Adobe Unleashes Creative Agent to Do Your Actual Work for You
Adobe is flooding its suite with a new AI assistant called Creative Agent. Apparently, moving folders and renaming clips was too much of a physical burden for human editors, so now ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot get to play designer.
Adobe is expanding its Creative Agent across Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and InDesign. The tool handles the digital janitorial work, like sorting media folders, renaming clips in bulk, and placing markers on timelines during interviews, which is a dream for anyone who loves avoiding actual editing.
Photoshop gets a boost with automated background swapping and layer reorganization, while Illustrator now checks for missing fonts and tidies up document clutter. InDesign users can have the AI apply global style updates and perform print-readiness checks, essentially automating the most tedious parts of layout design.
The updated Firefly model now cranks out storyboards and product videos from single photos, while letting users describe brand identities to generate logos and palettes. Integration with ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot is active, with Google Gemini and Slack joining the party soon.
After Effects is currently running the agent in closed beta, though Adobe is keeping the specific capabilities under wraps for now. When professional creativity becomes nothing more than a series of prompts for a chatbot, the value of a 'creative professional' starts to look a lot like a glorified subscription management role. The industry is clearly trading craftsmanship for the speed of a glorified script-kiddie.
