To stop technicians from losing their minds, AWS introduced ShuffleBox hardware. These passive units handle the messy physical interconnections, mapping the chaos into a structured quasi-random macro-level topology. By ditching the traditional layout, AWS claims they have cut router usage by 69% and boosted bandwidth by 33% across their new facilities in Europe.
