ChatGPT Dumps Text Walls to Build Interactive Apps On The Fly
Reading paragraphs of text when asking a chatbot for help is finally going extinct, as OpenAI turns chat answers into instant, clickable mini-apps tailored directly to whatever prompt is submitted.
OpenAI began rolling out a feature dubbed Intelligent UI in ChatGPT, letting its GPT-6 model spin up interactive buttons, forms, sliders, and maps directly inside the dialogue feed.
Instead of spitting out a dry grocery list or dinner plan, the bot dynamically constructs an interactive menu, an adjustable shopping checklist, and a visual prep schedule. Ask a financial question, and an interactive loan calculator with sliders spawns right in the message bubble without needing a single line of written explanation.
Behind the curtain, this runs on a native streaming component library paired with a specialized compiler. GPT-6 plans the UI layout and fills it with data, while the compiler paints the widgets onto the screen in real time, sparing users the awkward wait for the entire text stream to finish generating before clicking things.
This setup does not build free-form web pages or exportable raw code. The interface compiles exclusively from curated pre-built components designed to survive identical rendering on mobile and desktop without collapsing into visual chaos.
Under the hood, GPT-6 Instant also starts displaying its answers up to 44% faster in web-search workflows compared to GPT-5.6 Instant, by beginning visual rendering while its internal reasoning engine is still crunching logic in the background.
The rollout kicked off on October 7 for ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise, with free tiers following on October 8. Paying users get the GPT-6 Sol model, while free accounts run on GPT-6 Luna, leaving the feature strictly confined to the Chat tab without API export options.
The classic text box is quietly morphing into an on-demand software factory that invents bespoke tools for twenty seconds before throwing them away forever, leaving thousands of single-purpose utility websites wondering why they still exist.
