Buy Gigabyte RTX 5090 and Get a Whole Gram of Real Gold

Original version · May 28, 7:30

Because nothing says "we know this graphics card costs a literal kidney" like giving you a tiny crumb of precious metal to compensate for your financial ruin. Gigabyte is taking GPU bribery to a whole new level of ridiculousness.

The Taiwanese hardware giant decided to celebrate its own anniversary by bundling a literal sliver of 999 fine gold with their absolute top-tier Aorus GeForce RTX 5090 Infinity 32G. This limited-time promotion, running in Taiwan, offers buyers a physical 1-gram gold bar as a gift with their purchase.

To put this in perspective, a single gram of gold is worth about seventy bucks, which is basically pocket change compared to the astronomical, multi-thousand-dollar price tag this liquid-cooled monster will command. It is the ultimate corporate equivalent of buying a luxury yacht and getting a free complimentary keychain to make you feel better about your empty bank account.

The campaign is set to run from May 25 to June 7, 2026, or until the pile of tiny gold bars inevitably runs out.

It is a beautiful monument to modern tech inflation where buying a graphics card is now classified as an actual precious metal investment. At this rate, the RTX 6090 will probably ship with a deed to a small plot of land or a vial of unicorn tears just to justify its existence.
