Google built an anti-hallucination AI prototype for scientific research

Original version ·

Big Tech finally realized making up fake scientific citations might be bad for business, so Google built an experimental system that refuses to lie without receipts.

The search giant unveiled the Science One Framework, an autonomous AI research prototype engineered to banish fake facts from scientific work. Instead of generating smooth-sounding nonsense, the model acts like a paranoid detective collecting physical evidence before uttering a single sentence.

Under the hood, the system uses a Chain of Evidence architecture that links every single hypothesis directly to real datasets, papers, or documentation. If the AI cannot find a verified primary source for a claim, it simply drops the statement from the final output entirely, completely blocking invented citations.

Researchers receive a fully verifiable report where every line comes attached to a direct link pointing to a specific dataset row or scientific chart.

Instead of taking wild guesses, this system prefers staying quiet over lying, effectively turning LLMs into hyper-strict reference librarians.

Watching corporate giants build entire secondary frameworks just to stop their primary models from compulsively lying says everything about the current state of artificial intelligence. Pure progress looks like spending millions to teach a computer how to finally cite its sources.

finally! tired of asking chatgpt for paper sources and getting dead links to nonexistent journals lmao

So they built a wrapper around Google Scholar and called it a framework?

if the AI refuses to write anything without 100% hard proof, scientists are about to get 2-page reports on subjects that used to get 500-page hallucinated treatises. incredible win honestly.

Now do this for the main search engine because hallucinations there are ruining actual research daily.
