Grok Build Mode drops: generate full apps and games directly in chat
xAI wants to turn a simple chat window into a full-blown software factory. But as usual with Elon Musk's hype train, there is a giant paywall standing right between curious users and the actual magic.
The new Build Mode feature inside Grok generates interactive applications, arcade games, 3D environments, and data dashboards directly from a single text prompt. Instead of merely writing code snippets, the model builds the complete front-end logic, visual assets, and state management entirely within the conversational interface.
Once generated, projects can be immediately deployed to live web links under grok.me subdomains or custom user domains without touching external hosting platforms or code editors. The system relies on xAI's native models for concurrent code generation, image creation, and web search integration.
This early beta testing phase is currently restricted exclusively to subscribers paying for the highest tier known as SuperGrok Heavy. The feature is rolled out across the web version alongside the mobile apps on iOS and Android.
The boundary between talking about software and actually building it is officially evaporating. Putting an entire deployment pipeline behind a heavy subscription tier will either create a brand-new wave of prompt-based developers or just turn into another luxury playground for tech enthusiasts with extra cash to burn.
