Jensen Huang Drops Open AI Manifesto Signed by 25 Giants
When the ultimate chip lord preaches open-source freedom, it is worth asking who actually profits. A massive coalition has rallied behind open AI weights, leaving closed-model giants standing on an isolated island.
Jensen Huang officially joined X just to publish an open manifesto demanding government support and freedom for open-weight AI models. The letter, signed by 25 major tech players and organizations, draws a direct line between today’s panic over open artificial intelligence and the historic hysteria surrounding open-source software back in the 1980s.
The manifesto outlines four primary arguments, insisting that open weights boost developer access without retraining costs, fuel hardware competition, prevent vendor lock-in, and eliminate single points of failure. Apparently, relying on three corporate servers for all global intelligence isn't great for business continuity.
Heavyweight signatories including Nvidia, Microsoft, Palantir, IBM, Dell, CrowdStrike, Mistral, Hugging Face, and Mozilla backed the movement. Meanwhile, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google conveniently skipped signing the document to keep their proprietary gardens tightly locked.
Selling shovels during a gold rush was always profitable, but ensuring everyone has an open field to dig in guarantees the shovel salesman stays rich forever. The debate over who gets to control the world's algorithmic brain is officially out in the open.
