MyOffice Shuts Down Regional Hubs and Axes 800 Staff to Move In with Kaspersky
Russia's sovereign alternative to Microsoft Office is discovering that domestic tech autonomy hits differently once the budget runs dry and office chairs go up for sale.
New Cloud Technologies, the Russian software house behind MyOffice, has shuttered its primary regional development hubs in Saint Petersburg and Innopolis.
The Saint Petersburg location previously housed 200 to 300 engineers spanning three full floors, maintaining the core document editor engine, mobile stack, and cloud services. Surviving developers were sent into remote work limbo, while internal company messengers quickly filled with listings auctioning off office furniture and desks.
Company CEO Vyacheslav Zakorzhevsky confirmed the closure of several branches, moving the remaining skeleton crew into the Moscow headquarters of their majority owner, Kaspersky Lab. Meanwhile, company founder Dmitry Komissarov publicly complained that minority shareholders were never consulted, warning that core development of text and spreadsheet software has effectively ground to a halt.
The retreat comes after the company posted an 8.82 billion ruble net loss for 2025. According to union representative Artyom Semyonov, the workforce collapsed from 1,073 employees in March down to just 250–270 by August, shedding over 800 specialists in a frantic bid to stay afloat.
