Silicon Valley wants to diagnose medical issues now. OpenAI just unlocked a dedicated space where artificial intelligence gets full access to confidential health records and fitness trackers.
Users across the United States can now feed their medical portal data, blood test results, doctor notes, and continuous tracking from Apple Health directly into ChatGPT. The dedicated health hub allows the AI to interpret complex lab metrics, organize doctor visit agendas, and analyze sleep trends based on individual files.
Free tier users get access through OpenAI's GPT-5.5 Instant model, while paying subscribers run their medical queries through GPT-5.6 Sol. According to internal testing on a benchmark named HealthBench Professional, both models allegedly outperformed human physicians in diagnostic accuracy. Standard disclaimer logic still applies though, as the company insists the tool is meant for patient support rather than replacing licensed medical consultations.
To address cybersecurity panic, medical uploads are placed in an isolated, double-encrypted storage environment that is completely cordoned off from future AI training datasets and ad targeting algorithms. European users will not be testing these features anytime soon, as strict compliance requirements under the EU AI Act and local privacy laws have blocked the rollout across the continent.
The prospect of handing over complete medical histories to a chatbot that historically apologizes for obvious math errors creates a fascinating new chapter in modern healthcare. Trusting an algorithm over a human doctor might save money, but the fallout from AI-generated medical hallucination scandals will keep corporate lawyers busy for decades.
