New Pixel 11 Pro Units Brick During Initial Setup and Factory Resets

Original version ·

Early Google Pixel 11 Pro buyers report random shutdowns, setup loops, and unresponsive devices that brick after a factory reset.

According to Android Authority author Dhruv Bhutani, his newly purchased Google Pixel 11 Pro stopped working just five days after purchase following a factory reset attempt. The device repeatedly shuts down every few seconds during the initial setup process. Similar experiences were shared by other early owners on Reddit.

After the reboot cycle began, Bhutanis smartphone shut down entirely. When he eventually reached the initial setup screen again, any attempt to connect to Wi-Fi or sign into a Google account caused the display to go dark with a shutdown warning before the device died. Holding the power button only flashed the Google logo before repeating the failure. Booting into safe mode or using Android Debug Bridge to push the latest OTA update failed to resolve the issue.

Another user on Google support forums reported that their Pixel 11 Pro turned off spontaneously even with a high battery charge, locking up when it briefly powered on. When the owner contacted a service center, repair was denied because the smartphone had just launched, and the authorized retailer stated they would take several days just to arrange a refund.
