Russian scientists invent "diet bread" powered by sunflower sludge

Original version ·

Just when modern nutritional science thought it understood calorie deficits, state researchers in Moscow rolled out an alleged miracle bread designed to make people slim down by eating baked dough.

Researchers at the Federal Research Center for Nutrition and Biotechnology mixed whole wheat and unsteamed green buckwheat flour with an 80% sunflower protein concentrate to create an anti-obesity loaf. The complex formulation throws in oat bran packed with beta-glucans, sunflower extracts, barley malt, and chlorogenic acids aimed at interfering with carbohydrate uptake.

Food biotechnology researcher Yulia Frolova explained via state news outlet TASS that the dense protein blend specifically targets abdominal fat deposits while improving glucose regulation for patients dealing with Type II diabetes. The institute is formally pushing to integrate this heavy botanical dough directly into clinical weight-loss treatment programs.

Decades of biochemistry pointed toward burning more calories than consumed, yet state-funded food labs remain stubbornly convinced that the ultimate cure for expanding waistlines is simply swallowing more lab-formulated toast.
