Russian Corporate Giants Leaked 6,000+ Work Logins on Shopping Sites
A cybersecurity report reveals how employees at top Russian firms turned work emails into master keys for random internet forums and market apps, leaving corporate front doors wide open.
Analysts at cybersecurity firm Solar AURA checked the leak registers for ten major Russian enterprises featured on the RBC500 revenue ranking. They parsed through 19,285 data rows linked directly to official corporate email domains to see how secure these industrial titans really are.
The investigation uncovered 6,194 unique corporate accounts spilled onto dark web forums and open breach databases. The average large corporation hosted over 600 compromised accounts, proving that keeping corporate secrets secret is clearly an optional hobby.
More than half of those credentials—specifically 3,739 accounts—were published alongside plain-text passwords without even basic hash encryption. Meanwhile, another 5,985 entries contained credentials where passwords were stored either as raw text or simple hash strings easily crackable by modern hardware.
Direct hacking of actual corporate servers accounted for just 4% of the total compromises, representing only 270 specific cases. Instead of sophisticated cyberwarfare, staff simply recycled their corporate login details on online stores, learning platforms, and public forums.
Security teams also identified 12,612 records containing sensitive employee personal data. Analysts flagged 458 specific cases as high-risk incidents that require manual log validation and immediate account lockouts.
Corporate IT departments spend millions on military-grade firewalls only to be defeated by someone using their admin password to buy discounted pet food. Cyber hygiene will always remain a theoretical concept as long as human laziness runs digital networks.
