Spotify drops Xirp, an AI workspace combining Claude, Gemini, and Codex
Music streamer Spotify just quietly built the ultimate playground for AI coding agents, letting devs juggle multiple neural networks without losing their minds or codebase context.
Spotify launched a vendor-agnostic environment called Xirp designed specifically for agentic software development. The tool allows software engineers to launch and manage coding sessions using Claude Code, Gemini CLI, and OpenAI Codex inside a single interface without losing historical session context.
Inside Spotify, over 1300 internal engineers are already using the platform to offload repetitive programming chores to AI bots. To make these bots actually useful instead of hallucinating random code, Xirp connects directly to internal infrastructure services to pull context about microservices, system dependencies, architectural rules, and code ownership.
The platform includes a dedicated Workspace feature that archives ongoing tasks, active agent sessions, and generated documentation. Once an AI finishes a task, Xirp automatically turns the code changes into fresh documentation, feeding it right back into future coding sessions so the next bot does not break everything.
Engineers can run these AI sessions locally on their laptops or offload them to remote cloud servers. Spotify has now opened a public beta waitlist for external developers, who can also request a custom instance of the internal portal system.
