Even automated teller machines and traffic lights kept running smoothly without needing high-speed cellular bandwidth.
The exercise is set to expand across 14 major cities and counties, reaching approximately 70% of the total population. Residents in northern hubs, including Taipei and New Taipei, were alerted via social media posts well before the network slowdown took effect.
Intentionally chokepointing mobile connectivity proves how modern defense strategies treat high-speed cellular data as the very first casualties on a digital battlefield. When surviving an invasion requires relearning how to navigate life without continuous video streams, low-tech offline infrastructure becomes a crucial national security asset.
