Spammers Turn Official WordPress.com Forums Into a Massive SEO Dump

Original version ·

When a platform powers over a third of the web, bot filters apparently become optional. The official support hub is now moonlighting as a parasite SEO farm.

Rather than burning cash on aged domains and years of tedious backlink building, spammers discovered that the official support forum of WordPress.com makes for an exceptional parasite SEO dumping ground.

The regional forum section suddenly filled up with over 260 pages of raw commercial spam and doorway topics, completely unrelated to content management systems. Instead of troubleshooting database errors, the forum now hosts thousands of threads targeting high-volume Russian search queries, ranging from school exam answer keys to streaming links for comedy shows.

A single automated fresh account managed to spit out over 3,400 separate spam topics without triggering any automated defense mechanisms or bot prevention filters on the platform. The forum software simply waved the bots through, granting each post a pristine URL backed by the massive domain authority of WordPress.com.

While search algorithms at Google quickly identified the low-effort gibberish as useless doorway content and suppressed it, Yandex immediately indexed the forum threads and catapulted them to the very top of search engine results pages, treating unmoderated support tickets as tier-one authoritative content.

Decades of sophisticated algorithmic development and anti-spam machine learning continue to crumble the moment someone pastes twenty-year-old blackhat tactics onto a trusted legacy domain.
